  • The statement she made about how viola Davis felt after the movie is hog wash. Viola knew what she was signing up for from the jump it was all about the money. Then make that statement after the fact just in case of back lash from the black community. Do any one know if she donated all the earnings she made from the movie the help into the black community or culture

  • Kenan Ivory Wayans was in that movie and years later when In Living Color became huge, Fox exs wanted to make ILC into the "a show about blacks created for whites" ordeal. Suddenly a show that had realistic black folks that everyday blacks can relate too, had mostly whites on the show. It went from the Wayans show to "Jim Carrey and Wanda" show :/

  • So Hollywood keeps black people down 🙄 yet Townsend made movies and tv shows 🤷🏾‍♂️ so is Hollywood racist obviously not. Chris Rock talks about racism all the time but yet he's a millionaire, so I guess just black people went to his movies right🥱 You can do an be whatever you want no matter the color of your skin, this is just propaganda

  • MILLENNIALS!!! STOP INCLUDING BUCKWHEAT IN YOUR PITCH ABOUT RACISM!~!!! The little rascals was an ANTI RACIST effort, including BLACKS AND WHITES as FRIENDS, living in the same AREAS, IN THE SAME SCHOOL ROOMS, during a divided south! PLAYING TOGETHER IN THE SOUTH... THE WHITE KIDS, addressed racist ADULTS and segregation... and PROTECTED BUCKWHEAT!!!! Sometimes Sneaking him into places he was told he couldnt go! KNOW what youre talking about... ALSO ferina, was paid more than the white kids.. KNOW the friggin show. you cant just see a picture and make a view about it! Jesus , these idiot millennials. the reality of AMOS AND ANDY? same thing... YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN THE SHOWS... So you dont know what youre talking about. THE REAL amos and andy was two white people pretending to be black on the radio, (Like your generation does in the Cleveland show and other seth macfarlane efforts) ONLY ONE person was a jokester con artist of a man. AND HE WAS PORTRAYED AS NEGATIVE to his peers not POSITIVE. THE REST of the cast were very well spoken EXCEPT for kingfish. YOUR GENERATION is MORE THAN WILLING to see and entertain yourselves with FAR WORSE. HIP HOP for example. Not only do you enjoy it, but you physically are more than willing to DRESS like it...speak like it (faking a new york or southern accent when youre from ohio) and it has even lead to criminal behavior and death, in streets AND in the awards ceremonies. And Tyler perry is the EXACT SAME THINS as Amos and andy tv show. MEET THE BROWNS!?!?!! THAT IS THE CLONE of amos and andy. depicting a hapless person surrounded by smart people has ALWAYS been on tv, ALL races do that. ALL of them. ASIANS even do it. Mexicans have shows that do it. Name a comedy show with whites in it that DOESNT have an idiot surrounded by people who are NOT idiots? the only show like that is seinfeld where EVERYONE was an idiot. MOST shows have an idiot surrounded by smart people. Home Improvement, the Nanny, I dream of jeanie, and Bullethead was most certainly an idiot. RACISM IS REAL.. but if youre going to make your statement, DONT include things that are NOT racist in nature, or were actually civil rights statements to FIGHT racism, because white people who want to deny us, will use your lack of historical knowledge to make the claim that we "make things up, and make racist claims blindly" and therefore ignore ALL we say..

    • @Tyrice King - Yeah, White Chicks was hilarious. And Terry Crews was the funniest! We watched it again recently and now even my mum loves it. I wish we had a chance to see The Parent Hood, but I don't think we got that here back in the 90's. I was away in London when that came out. It's a shame they don't make TV of that caliber any more, especially no more In Living Color. Those sketches were brilliant, but for me Homie The Clown was the funniest because Damon Wayans had an air of mischief about him. Everything about that show was great.

      Timuçin LeflefTimuçin Leflef11 kun oldin
    • @Timuçin Leflef in living color. That’s my shit I still watch that from time to time on tv one jus like the wayans bros will never make a part 2 to white chicks 2 even doe the first one was a huge success cause they don’t want the backlash cause I literally ask Shawn and marlon wayans on Twitter can they make a part 2 and they gave me they reason why they would never make a part2 cause they said it took to long on the make up and it’s jus to much they said people should jus be happy with the first one and that’s how I feel abt how abt Hollywood shuffle a part 2 will give them backlash and problems that they don’t want Robert townend like shows like the parent hood metor man the five heart beats and many more I love the parent show it had a a lot of family values a lot of shows is missing now days they is missing the glue it was great and so was the wayans and that why it can’t be a part 2 or there legacy will be tarnish💯

      Tyrice KingTyrice King11 kun oldin
    • @Tyrice King - Great point Tyrice. Thank God we live in a world now where 'Hollywood Shuffle' doesn't need a sequel! Now there are many independent artists able to make their own projects and there are black-owned studios like Tyler Perry's one in Atlanta. Still though, I'd like to see a sequel to this just to see what happened to Townsend's character as he negotiated Hollywood since the 80's. The ups, the downs and like are there still problems we're not aware of? I just think Hollywood Shuffle was a movie with a heart to it. Trying to get Townsend's 'The Meteor Man' now just for laughs, even though it's only available for the U.S. region. Oh and by the way, back in the 90s, over here in Europe we thought 'In Living Color' was the best comedy sketch show ever! Anarchic, irreverent and satirical. 🤣🤣🤣

  • I’ve been saying this since the creation of B.E.T Also, Tiffany Haddish should definitely NOT be to the mascot of African-Americans ( not “black” people) today. 95% of her roles had to do with her being ratchet, ignorant and Ronchi and is exactly the point of what Hollywood Shuffle was portraying. Well done, with the exception of the haddish example, and some degree Atlanta.

  • Sadly you are wrong in your assessment. When this movie came out there were less overall parts but an upward trend in the quality of those parts. Today there are mor opportunities but they are of less quality. Instead of caricatures there are more aggressive stereotypes. The goofy pimps are replaced by hyper violent misogynists, prostitutes are replaced by Cardi B, different name same sexual degradation, gangster with gangster rappers, and an even greater demise of the black family. There are fewer references to educated blacks,, degradation of language. Finn from star wars controversy. Many blsck parts are zero dimensional : Apollo Creed, the highly respected and beloved competitor and later friend to Rocky vs his "Mary Sue" son from Creed. Black Panther If you seriously look at it, which you won't, is filled with negative black stereotypes that you would call racist if they were in other movies. Compare that comedy I think it was called Barbershop, that had a scene nearly exactly the same as in Birth of a Nation. Also Amos and Andy was popular with black audiences and after the Naacp got that canceled it would be 20 yrs before another black cast show would be aired. Plus the concept was just reworked slightly with a white cast. It was called the Honeymooners, which was just as successful and for the same reason the characters were relatable to the majority of people regardless of race.

    Gerard CoteGerard Cote18 kun oldin
  • 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️Really? We have more Black actors, singers, athletes who are filthy rich and we can not get unity between everybody to change public perception of Black people? Hollywood is not that much of a problem anymore. It is us, Black people. We talk about negative images but it is our own people who are talking negatively in our music, in our social media posts, and in other things. WE as a people can change the majority of things said or shown negatively about us.

How are those that are not us going to define us on the world stage when they don’t know what it’s like to be us? It makes no sense and often leads to complete mockery of our character on the writers behalf.
